SCREENING

As the largest short film screening platform in China, more than 100 film are shown in Hurricane International Film Festival each year, along with works from the “Growth Selection” and previous works of directors in the pitching session, which allow audiences to experience the freshest and most powerful talents of Chinese cinema annually at a glance.

Meanwhile, as one of the major sections of HIFF, the screening section not only includes multiple branches like “Forum Screening”, “Jury Shots Meet-Up ” and “Joint Screening”, but also introduces diverse programs like screenings of the international short films and classic domestic shorts each year, in order to present the best contents in a thematic and large-scale manner.

The HIFF screening is not limited to the festival period or venue. As early as 2017, great short films by young Chinese directors were showcased by us in Hollywood, London, New York, Tokyo and Sydney. In 2018, we continue to hold weekly screenings and on-stage conversations in Beijing and Shanghai for 13 consecutive weeks. In 2019, those were launched at bookstores in 10 cities. Despite the outburst of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, we held monthly offline screenings from August to December with about 100 people participating in each event. Since its establishment, HIFF has held more than 800 activities, with nearly 1,000 shorts and hundreds of feature films screened to nearly 100,000 audiences.
